7 Ways to Keep Your Cat Calm During
4th of July Fireworks

🛏️ Create a Safe Hideaway

Set up a quiet, cozy space away from windows and noise. Add soft bedding, familiar scents, and a box or covered bed they can curl up in. Close curtains and doors to help muffle the sound of fireworks.

🎶 Use Background Noise

Play white noise, soft classical music, or keep the TV on low volume. This can help mask the loud pops and booms that trigger cat anxiety.

Stick to Routine

Feed, play, and interact with your cat at the usual times. Routine offers a sense of safety, even when the outside world feels chaotic.

🌿 Try Calming Products

Feline pheromone diffusers (like Feliway and Pet Remedy), sprays, or calming treats can help take the edge off. Pair them with a relaxing grooming session or your cat’s favourite toy.

🚪 Let Them Hide

Don’t try to coax them out of hiding or force cuddles. Allow your cat to choose how they cope. Simply being nearby and calm can be comforting.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Limit Guest Interactions

Hosting a party? Make sure your cat has a guest-free zone. Remind visitors not to chase, pet, or pick them up - no matter how cute they look.

👀 Observe Changes Afterward

Watch for signs of stress in the days that follow: hiding, changes in appetite, overgrooming, or withdrawn behaviour. If anything seems off, reach out to your vet.
