Matilda’s New Chapter: Why Every Cat Deserves a Home

With her extra toes and calm gaze, 8-year-old Matilda had clearly seen a lot in her years as a community cat.

She’s likely had more than her share of kittens over the years. When you pause to think about how many cats could be part of Matilda’s legacy, it’s staggering. And it’s a powerful reminder: this is why we spay and neuter. This is why Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) matters. It's about protecting cats like Matilda and reducing the cycle of overpopulation and suffering.

Thanks to a compassionate local rescue and the ABC Clinic, Matilda was spayed and treated for a puncture wound near her eye. She stayed with the rescue to recover, and they quickly noticed she had more going on, some upper respiratory symptoms, likely connected to her injury, and dental problems too.

The volunteers fell for her fast. (We get it, look at that face 😻.)

After her initial recovery, she returned to her caregiver, but she still needed follow-up dental care. And because someone cared enough to keep going, Matilda got what she needed: a dental procedure that treated a painful infection and helped her heal for good. 🦷💪

Here’s the beautiful part: Matilda is now officially retired from street life. She’s safe, warm, and recovering in a home with a caregiver who’s helping her find a forever one.

This June, as we support Mission Meow with every Moggie purchase, we’re celebrating the stories behind the cats. The tough ones. The tender ones. The cats who remind us that it is possible to change a life with care, time, and community.

Matilda has left her mark on everyone who met her and soon found her forever home where she will live out her days, happily and healthily.
